OUTSTANDING FINISHES SEES NEW AND REPEAT WINNERS HOIST

THE ECCO MAJOR TROPHY

Niagara Falls ON (July 30, 2012) - The final day of the 2-day Ecco Major was played today at Grand Niagara Golf Club. Mother Nature could not have been more kind than over the past two days, soaking the players in cloudless, sunny skies, warm temperatures, no humidity and a very slight breeze. During the Two Day event course played the perfect host to the Ecco Major as the greens were fast and receptive, the fairways were lush ,in spite of the summer of drought, the fescue provided a wonderfully contrasting golden yellow hue. The Grand Niagara GC was very well received by players and the Tour alike from the great service to perfect condition. It was a great two days of golf at an outstanding facility. The players were set to battle to the end today, and the results would show ... no one gave up.

The Championship Flight was lead wire-to-wire by Joe McIntyre (Belleville ON). He picked up right where he left off on Day 1 by shooting his second sub-par round of the tournament. Joe shot a one under par, 71, for a two day total of 141 (a nine stroke victory), winning his third straight tournament. In second place was Rick Dodds-Hebron (Brampton ON). Rick started his second day alone in fourth and put together a solid round of 76, finishing with a two day total of 150, giving him his first top three finish of the year. Placing third in the Champ Flight, Tour Rookie, Michael Cottenden (Ridgeville ON) struggled on the back nine in his round today but was able to hold it together to capture his first top three finish of the year. He posted a 78, giving him a two day total of 151. The only real change in the Dell Order of Merit would be Joe McIntyre, extending his lead to a whopping 202 points ahead of Shavi Kahlon.

The A-Flight had the closest finish of the day withToru Tagawa (Toronto ON) winning the Flight. Toru began the 2012 Tour season playing in the B-Flight and started his second day six strokes back, tied in eighth place. He played a very steady round and shot 78 for two day total of 159. After all of the A Flight players had finished, it was a surprise to everyone, including Toru, that his 159 would be good enough to capture the Ecco Major and his first A Flight Tour victory. Greg Colling (Bradford ON) would take second place honors, his second in as many tournaments. Greg posted a score of 83 for a two day total of 160. Day one leader and Dell Order of Merit A-Flight Leader, Richard Lowden (Oakville ON) did not have the day he was hoping for, struggling throughout the day and posting an 86 for two day total of 161. This was good enough for third place, stretching his lead in the Dell Order of Merit points race to173 points.

The B-Flight was a stressful finish for the final group that included Bob Chapman (Ajax ON), John Baty (Toronto ON), and Gerry Hunt (Newmarket ON). Bob would start the day with a comfortable lead of four strokes, however, by the tenth hole, he would see his four-stroke lead erased. By the twelfth hole, John Baty had taken a one stroke lead. On the thirteenth, Bob would get the stroke back, and Bob and John would play the next two holes stroke for stroke. On the sixteenth, John would recapture the lead by one with two holes to play. On the seventeenth, John would struggle, giving Bob a window, in which to recover. By the eighteenth hole, Bob had regained a one shot lead, and would not relent, padding his lead by one and capturing his first win of the 2012 Tour season. Bob finished his day with an 84, and a two day total of 163, John would finish in second place ending his day with an 82, for a two day total of 165. Finishing in third was Peter Cuthbert (Alton ON), with an outstanding, come from behind finish. Peter started the day in eighth place, eleven strokes back, but his putter was very hot, and he was able to turn in the lowest round in the Flight. His 81 had four birdies and a bunch of pars resulting in a two day total of 171. With the win, Bob vaulted five spots on the Dell Order of Merit to third place, 51 points back of leader Dante Carlos.

The C-Flight was won with steady day-to-day play. Current Dell Order of Merit leader and Day One co-leader Bob Read (Toronto ON), was able to have another solid round today, bettering his Day One score by four and turning in an 86 for a two day total 176. Bob Sikorski (Toronto ON), who started his day in fifth spot, jumped three spots by firing a terrific 86, for a two day total of 181. This turned out to be good enough for second place. Also having a great day was Mark Matusiak (Toronto ON) who started his day in eighth spot. Mark improved his Day One score by eleven shots! He turned in the third of four 86's on the day, which was good enough for third spot and a two day total of 183.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is Net score; this is a calculation of the player's score after handicap strokes have been subtracted from the player's gross score.Today's top 4 low-net winners were, in the Championship Flight Dave Gamble, A-Flight Bob Vickers, B-Flight Michael Kalchman in the C-Flight Eric Arzoomanian.

Today's winners in the 4 closest-to-the-pin competitions were: Michael Cann, David Gamble, Cory Morash, Bob Vickers. Long Drive honours were won by Eric Arzoomanian.

ECCO, TaylorMade and Mill Street Brewery products are awarded at every Tournament to the top 3 finishers in each of the four Flights 1st place- One pair of Ecco golf shoes, 2nd - One of either a TaylorMade Wedge or Putter, 3rd - One dozen TaylorMade golf balls and one case (24) of Mill Street beer and to the low Net Score finisher in each of the four Flights will also receive One dozen TaylorMade golf balls and one case (24) of Mill Street beer The Tour also awards a draw prize at each event from Mill Street Brewery for the Mill Street Brew Pub and today's winner of the $50 certificate was Jeff Lundy.

OUTSTANDING PLAY RULES AT DAY ONE OF THE TWO-DAY ECCO MAJOR

Niagara Falls ON (July 29, 2012) - Day one, of the third Major on the 2012 GTA AM Tour season, was played today. A two-day 36-hole event where the Dell or of Merit points and the prizing are increased by 50%!! This week's tournament host course is Grand Niagara Golf Club and it definitely captivated and challenged the players. Grand Niagara GC, was designed by the world-renowned golf course architect, Rees Jones, who is famous for revitalizing PGA championship courses across North America such as East Lake Golf Club, Bethpage State Park (Black Course), Atlanta Athletic Club, and Congressional Country Club (Blue Course). In Canada the list is just as impressive with renovations to The Canadian Open hosts, Hamilton Golf and Country Club and Royal Montreal.  To play a Rees Jones course is a true privilege, an experience the avid golfer will never forget. The course at Grand Niagara is quintessential Rees Jones. There is no trickery here. His fairway angles, positioning of hazards and exquisitely contoured greens demand intelligent course management, tempting players with a variety of risk-reward options. Strategy breeds success, and players who heeded this warning will have a chance to take home the hardware.

In the Championship Flight today, the gauntlet was dropped, setting the stage for what should be a terrific finish. Joe McIntyre (Belleville ON) had an outstanding day posting the lowest round of the 2012 Tour Season. His day included twelve pars, four birdies, and two bogies resulting in a round one score of 70 which is two under. Michael Cottenden (Ridgeville ON) and Dave Gamble (Georgetown ON) find themselves in a comfortable position, both of whom, had a great day shooting one over par 73 and sitting only three shots back of Joe.

The A-Flight is set for what could be the most exciting finish of the four flights, with eight players heading into tomorrow within six strokes of day one leader, Richard Lowden (Oakville ON). Richard played his way around the course in steady fashion, finishing with twelve pars, two birdies, three bogies and one double bogie. In second, Michael Smith (Toronto ON) had one of the most interesting rounds of the tournament and perhaps the year thus far. He finished his day with three pars, an amazing seven birdies, five bogies, and 3 double bogies for a four over par, 76, sitting one stroke back of Lowden. Greg Colling (Bradford ON) sits alone in third after turning in a five over round of 77.

In the B-Flight, Bob Chapman (Ajax ON) had a great day, shooting his best round in over a year.  Never really putting himself in trouble all day and when he did he would scramble to save the hole. Bob has put himself in great position to capture his first win of the year. If he is able to put together a similar round tomorrow, he will walk away with the trophy. John Baty (Toronto ON), fresh off his OslerBrook win last week, finds himself in a great position to repeat and challenge Bob. John ended day one with an 83 sitting four shots back and alone in second. Gerry Hunt (Newmarket ON) finds himself in third, is also within striking distance, only five strokes back after shooting an 84 on the day.

The C-Flight sees familiar faces atop the leader board. Current Dell Order of Merit leader Bob Read (Toronto ON) and Troy Langley (Uxbridge ON) head into tomorrow's round tied with matching first round scores of 90. Peter Gatzios (Toronto ON) sits alone in third, one stroke back, shooting 91 on the day. The C-Flight is far from a lock with seven more players within striking distance only seven strokes back of the co-leaders.

Today's winner in the 4 closest-to-the-pin competitions were: Michael Smith, Mike DiFlorio, Bruce Findlay and Dave Gamble. Long Drive honours were won by Joe McIntyre.

EXTREMELY HOT AND WINDY CONDITIONS TESTED PLAYERS AT THE NUUN OPEN AT OSLERBROOK GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

Collingwood, ON (July 23, 2012) - With the first half of the Tour season now complete, the competition is starting to heat up, as players try to improve their position in the Dell Order of Merit. With only the top 20 players in each flight moving forward to compete in the Tour Championship, held this year at The Devils Pulpit, all players want to make the most of the last 10 events. Today, OslerBrook Golf and Country Club was host to The Nunn Open. This private Club is nestled on 230 acres, between the deep green of the Escarpment and the rich blue of Georgian Bay. OslerBrook was designed by one of Canada's pre-eminent course architects, Graham Cooke. He envisioned a golf course that would capture the old-world charm of links courses while maintaining an environmentally responsible championship course. OslerBrook is a unique combination of visual beauty, immaculate conditioning and challenge for golfers of all handicaps. Mother Nature continued her unrelenting challenge by providing the players with high winds gusting, upwards of 50km/hr and the real feel temperature reaching 39°C.

The Championship Flights' Chris Willis (Toronto ON), posted only the second sub-par round of the Tour season. Chris shot the lights out on the front nine complete with four birdies, closing out the nine with a three under 32. The back nine ended with Chris firing four straight pars, for a 38, ending his day with a one under par 70. In second place was Mike Bondy (Morriston ON), playing in only his third Tour event. He and Chris played together and both said they fed off each other. Mike finished with a two over par 73. To determine third place, a card matching was used as Adam Ferris (Ajax ON), and Jordan Pittman (Bracebridge ON), both finished with matching 79's. When matching Adam`s and Jordan`s back nine scores, Jordan would capture third place prizing honors shooting a 41 on the back nine over Adam's 42. However, both will still receive 60 Dell Order of Merit points.

In the A-Flight, Mike Reynolds (Toronto ON) put together a solid round of 80 today to capture his first Tour victory in his two years ON TOUR!! With his win he receives 100 points, moving him up 32 spots in the B-Flight, Dell Order of Merit, only three spots shy of the top 20. Capturing second place was Tour sponsor Joshua Kingsmill (Toronto ON) with a round of 81. This puts Joshua in the 10th spot on the Dell Order of Merit. Alone in third place was Bob Lorion (Brampton ON) shooting an 85. He sits comfortably in second on the Dell Order of Merit.

The B-Flight saw Tour veteran John Baty (Toronto ON) capture his first win ON TOUR with a round of 81. This gave John a five shot victory and moved him into fourth place in the Dell Order of Merit. To determine second and third place, a card matching was used between Angelo Kociper (Barrie ON) (his first year on Tour) and Wayne Amirault (Acton ON). Both finished with 86's. When matching Angelo`s and Wayne`s back nine scores, Angelo would grab second place honors shooting a 45 on the back nine while Wayne takes third place with his 48. This is Wayne's last event in B Flight as his Handicap Factor has dropped and placed him into the A Flight. The B Flight players wish Wayne all the best in his new Flight!!

In the C-Flight, we had yet another first time winner in David Hapier (Richmond Hill ON). He too battled the stronger afternoon winds and finished his day with a 91 good enough for a four shot victory. With the win David moves into second place on the C-Flight, Dell Order of Merit. Second place honors go to Anthony Terminesi (Woodbridge ON) who is playing in his first year on Tour. In only his second event he finished with 95. Alone in third was John Duffy (Toronto ON) who is also enjoying his first year on Tour. He ended his day with 104.

Whitevale, ON (July 16, 2012) - Today, Whitevale Golf Club welcomed the GTA AM Tour players for the Knights Inn Masters. Mother Nature served up another extremely warm day, complete with high humidity, making it feel like 38°C, ensuring the players were going to have a difficult day. Another outstanding private golf facility the Tour has the opportunity to play; Whitevale Golf Club has been operating since 1958 and is truly a hidden gem. The course is tucked away in the heritage town of Whitevale and is surrounded by Duffins Creek and environmentally protected natural areas. In 2004, Whitevale GC attained the coveted certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary; one of the first private clubs in Canada to receive this honour. In 2006, renowned, Canadian golf architect Thomas McBroom completed an extensive redesign of the golf course, which included a total bunker and tee renovation and a realignment of several holes, providing Whitevale with a contemporary golfing challenge while maintaining its historic and natural beauty. The course layout, fast and true greens, combined with the heat, were all poised to test the Tour Players today.

To determine second and third place, a card matching was used. Greg would grab second place honors with a score of 38 on the back nine and Stuart would take third with a 42.

The B-Flight saw Tour veteran and Tour Handicap Committee Chair, Brad Golden (Toronto ON), turn in an outstanding round today! With this, his 3rd 2012 Tour victory, Mark is now promoted to the B Flight. In second today was Bob Sikorski (Toronto ON) finishing his day with a 93. Alone in third was George Olak (Cobourg ON) with a 95.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is by posting the lowest Net score in each Flight; Net Score is a calculation of the player's score after handicap strokes have been subtracted from the player's gross score. THREE MORE FIRST TIME WINNERS CELEBRATE THIS WEEK AT CEDAR BRAE G&CC

Scarborough ON (July 09, 2012) - Another great day of competitive golf was played today as GTA AM Tour players took to the historic Cedar Brae Golf and Country Club to compete in the P.J. Dermody Challenge. An outstanding private golf facility that is no stranger to hosting competitive events and major golf Tour Tournaments, including the LPGA and Canadian Tours, along with GAO events, Provincial Championships and qualifiers. Cedar Brae is a challenging par 71, 6,521 yard layout that winds lazily through the beautiful Rouge Valley with picturesque fairways, healthy and fast greens, and natural beauty. Another great field of 107 Tour players was set to compete on a golf course that would force them to use all of the golf clubs in their bag and of course the most important one on their shoulders.

The Championship Flight had another first time winner capture the trophy today, not only that, but today's top three finishers mirrored the top three spots in the Championship Flight Dell Order of Merit. Joe McIntyre (Belleville ON), who has been the most consistent player in the Champ Flight, in only six tournaments played, he has place second twice, a third place and a loss in a playoff at the Honsberger Physio Tournament held at the Barrie Country Club. Joe shot a solid round of 73 complete with 13 pars, 2 birdies, 2 bogies and 1 double bogie giving him a three shot victory. Shavi Kahlon (Brooklin ON) finished alone in second place with a 76 and in third place was John Harrington (Ajax ON) with a 77.

The A-Flight victory went to Tour veteran, Matt Froggatt (Toronto ON), who has played on tour since 2009. Playing in only his second tournament of the season, Matt had a fantastic day, firing a 76 for a two shot victory. He played a very steady round, keeping himself out of trouble, finishing his day with 12 pars, 1 birdie, 4 bogies, and 1 double bogie. Rick Wright (Markham ON), who is a staunch Tour supporter, had a great day, shooting a 78 which was good enough for second place. Alone in third place, Bob Fisher (Toronto ON), shot a 79, also giving him his best result on the season thus far.

The B-Flight came down to an exciting playoff that included two players. Both Bob Chapman (Ajax ON) and Dante Carlos (Toronto ON) fired an 81 (Terry Fitzgibbon also shot 81 but was unavailable for the playoff). A one-hole playoff, on hole number one, was all that was needed as Dante Carlos finished the hole with a birdie to close out the competition completing his second win this season and giving him a comfortable 77 point lead in the B Flight Dell Order of Merit. To determine second and third place, a card matching was used matching Bob`s and Terry`s back nine scores Terry would grab second place honors with a 40 and Bob would take third with a 43.

In the C-Flight, it was another first time winner, Krish Nair (Toronto ON), playing in his first season on Tour and fifth event. Krish, had a successful outing, putting together a solid round of 87 for a one stroke victory. The second and third place finishers were familiar names from last week however, they switched positions this week. Steve Kolenko (Grimsby ON), who placed third last week, finish second this week shooting an 88, while Peter Gatzios (Toronto ON), who lost in the playoff last week, finished third this week with 93.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is by posting the lowest Net score in each Flight; Net Score is a calculation of the player's score after handicap strokes have been subtracted from the player's gross score. Today's top 4 low-net winners were, in the Championship Flight James Brown, A-Flight Bruce Findlay, B-Flight Brad Golden in the C-Flight Paul Ungureanu.

Today's winner in the closest-to-the-pin competition was Ali Abbas and Serge Marchuk took home long drive honors.
